Kuban villagers opposed the authorities' plans to build a landfill.
Authorities plan to organize a landfill in the Tuapsinsky district right at the site of flowing streams and near the river, which poses a threat to people's health and the environment, residents of the village of Defanovka indicated.
Residents of the village of Defanovka in the Tuapsinsky district appealed to the authorities demanding the cancellation of the landfill organization near the settlement in the resort area.
As arguments against the landfill, they pointed out violations in the documentation process, threats to the environment and people's health, as well as the existence of children's camps in the area. Villagers noted that the landfill is proposed to be formed right at the site of flowing streams and near the river, reported on July 20 in his Telegram channel, city council deputy Alexander Safronov.
He attached a video with the voices of underage residents of Defanovka, who demanded that officials stop the organization of the landfill.
"We are the future of this area," a girl's voice sounded in the video.
"For the forest, for the water, for our nature," a boy's voice sounded.
"We will not leave our home," said another child's voice.
"We stand for it as a whole village," the children said in unison.
The demands of the residents of Defanovka were supported by subscribers of the deputy's Telegram channel. "We do not have a border, but a complete ecological disaster, and this is compounded by landfills, a disgrace," Konstantin wrote in a comment to Safronov's post.
"It's good that Krasnodar's beautification hasn't reached Defanovka," Sergey sarcastically noted.
"Last week I walked around Sochi and how green it is there. Even during construction, they try to preserve mature trees. I really want the widespread deforestation to stop here," Elena noted.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier, the struggle of residents of the Poltavskaya stanitsa in the Krasnodar region against the landfill received wide resonance. The villagers demanded that trucks deliver waste to the landfill bypassing their settlement. They repeatedly held protests demanding its elimination. Thus, on March 23, 2023, residents of Poltavskaya blocked the road to the landfill, but police issued fines to the activists. On April 5, 2023, the villagers again blocked the road to the dump for garbage trucks.
On December 4, 2023, the landfill was closed. Opponents of the dump have repeatedly faced administrative and criminal prosecution. They consider this pressure and revenge for their active position regarding the dump. On December 14, 2023, the authorities reported that the dump would be excluded from the territorial scheme for solid municipal waste management, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "The struggle of residents of Poltavskaya against the dump".
