The government of Armenia approved the ratification of the agreement on the "Trump Route"
If the document is approved by the Constitutional Court, the bill will be sent for ratification to the Parliament of Armenia.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in June, the board of directors of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation approved the creation of a joint venture between the U.S. and Armenia, TRIPP Development Company. The project is part of a strategic investment package worth $2.5 billion.
On May 26, 2026, in Yerevan, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed a Charter on Strategic Partnership, expanding U.S.-Armenian cooperation and supporting the TRIPP project. The "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) aims to create a transport link between Azerbaijan and its exclave, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, through the territory of Armenia and will be managed by an American consortium. Rubio's visit to Yerevan was accompanied by the initialing of a framework agreement on the transport corridor and a memorandum of cooperation in the field of critical minerals.
The government of Armenia approved the bill for the ratification of the agreement on the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), which will be sent to the Constitutional Court for review. If the document is approved, the bill will be sent for ratification to the Parliament, reported "Armenpress".
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted during the discussion of the legislative initiative that by signing this agreement, Armenia and the U.S. aim to strengthen peace and stability in the South Caucasus through the development of infrastructure projects.
"To fully complete the establishment of TRIPP, we need to sign two more documents: a shareholders' agreement and the charter of the TRIPP company. We are currently working in this direction," News.am quoted him as saying at the government meeting.
Mirzoyan added that the project is being implemented with full respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of Armenia, including in matters of border control.
The minister explained that under the project, the U.S. and Armenia are establishing a company that will be able to attract various partners for the implementation of individual projects in different parts of Armenia. "After the expiration of the project's implementation period, set at 49 years, the parties will be able to extend it for the same period. In this case, Armenia's share in the company will increase from 26% to 49%," Mirzoyan noted.
It should be noted that on April 2, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated in an interview with TASS that the signing of the agreement on the implementation of the "Trump Route" project violated the regional balance in the South Caucasus.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that during the election campaign, a specific direction of Prime Minister Pashinyan was the defense of the TRIPP project. Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia retains full jurisdiction, sovereignty, and territorial integrity over all areas of project implementation.
