Residents of North Ossetia talked about the queues for cheap gasoline

Residents of North Ossetia continue to face a shortage of gasoline at major network gas stations. Some drivers spend several hours in line to refuel at federal network gas stations, while others prefer to buy more expensive fuel at private gas stations, where there are almost no queues. The cost of gasoline at commercial stations is in some cases almost twice as high, drivers noted. In their opinion, the introduction of a refueling system on even and odd days could reduce queues.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by July 9, prices at private gas stations in Vladikavkaz sharply increased: AI-92 to 92 rubles, AI-95 to 99 rubles, where gasoline can be purchased without queues. Federal network gas stations continue to maintain the previous price, which is at least 20 points lower than that of private stations, where queues stand. The Ministry of Housing and Utilities is considering introducing restrictions on even and odd days depending on the vehicle's license plate.

Queues formed at federal network gas stations

A resident of Mozdok Umar told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that he last spent about three hours in line at a gas station.

There were about 50-60 cars in line

"I stood from half past five in the morning, only left at half past eight. I refueled at "Gazprom", the 95th gasoline cost 71 rubles. There were about 50-60 cars in line," he said.

According to him, at private gas stations in Mozdok, particularly at the "Olymp" gas station, gasoline is sold for about 140 rubles per liter, but there are almost no queues there.

"The price is biting — almost twice as expensive. It creates a lot of inconvenience for people. You don't know if you can go anywhere. They don't even fill canisters," the interlocutor noted.

A resident of Vladikavkaz Azmat told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that he managed to refuel much faster.

"At "Rosneft" on Zortova Street, I stood for about ten minutes. I filled 30 liters — they didn't let me take more, there was a limit. I refueled at 70 rubles per liter," he said.

According to him, at commercial gas stations, AI-95 now costs about 105 rubles per liter.

"I assume that the difference is related to the purchase price of fuel. Before the crisis, gasoline was cheaper by about five rubles," Azmat said.

At the same time, he noted that the rise in gasoline prices has hardly affected his expenses, as his car mainly runs on gas. However, according to the interlocutor, the cost of gas has also risen by about 7-8 rubles.

A resident of Mozdok Adam told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that he personally did not stand in queues.

"Queues occur where there is cheap gasoline. In Mozdok, they stood at "Gazprom", but there is no constant line like that. And in terms of price, gasoline is certainly rising," he said.

Price increase has worried drivers

A resident of Vladikavkaz Alihan, who uses a diesel vehicle, told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that he also did not encounter queues.

"I was driving on the highway, stopped and refueled. At the gas station on Arkonskoye Highway, on Grigoryan Street, diesel was about 75 rubles per liter. The difference between network and private gas stations is about 20 rubles. There are no queues for expensive fuel," he reported.

The thought of not leaving home unnecessarily is already present

According to Alihan, so far, the rise in fuel prices has not significantly affected his expenses, but he has started using his car less often.

"The thought of not leaving home unnecessarily is already present," the interlocutor noted.

A resident of Vladikavkaz Ibrahim told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that gasoline at major network gas stations usually appears in the morning.

"At "Rosneft", "Gazprom", "Lukoil", gasoline is dispensed from about six in the morning until noon or one in the afternoon. At "Gazprom", the 95th costs about 69 rubles, at "Lukoil" — 72 rubles, at "Rosneft" — about 67 rubles," he reported.

According to him, prices at commercial gas stations are significantly higher.

"At private gas stations, gasoline costs 100, 105, sometimes 115 rubles. If you take "Gefest", where they sell Lukoil gasoline, it costs about 105 rubles," Ibrahim said.

He noted that the cost of gasoline at network gas stations has risen slightly — "literally by 10-15 kopecks", while he considers the rise in gas prices to be a more serious problem.

"If gas used to cost 20-25 rubles, now it's about 25 rubles. For carriers, this is more serious than queues for gasoline, because most "Gazelles" run on gas," he explained.

According to the interlocutor, on the highway near Pyatigorsk, he had to refuel at 150 rubles per liter of AI-95, and in neighboring Kabardino-Balkaria, prices are also significantly higher than in North Ossetia.

Drivers supported measures to reduce queues

Evaluating the possibility of introducing a system for refueling cars on even and odd days, most respondents did not rule out that such a measure could help reduce queues.

Azmat believes that such an order can be considered as one of the possible solutions to the situation, although in some cases it may create inconveniences for drivers.

Ibrahim supported such an initiative.

"If the situation does not improve, then this is a normal measure. If you know that your day is even, then you will come exactly then, there will be fewer queues and more order," Ibrahim said.

Alihan believes that the restrictions will only work if drivers do not let their tank run completely empty.

"But if a person needs to refuel urgently, inconveniences will certainly arise. Especially for taxi drivers," he noted.

Authorities reported on price checks and the development of a mobile application

According to information on the "Gas Stations of North Ossetia" website, which is maintained by the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of the republic based on data received from gas stations, out of 31 gas stations in Vladikavkaz, there is no fuel at two, only diesel fuel at five, AI-95 is sold at 22 gas stations. In the Alagir district, out of six gas stations, two are not working, AI-95 is available at three gas stations.

In the Right Bank district, out of six gas stations, one is closed, two have only diesel fuel, AI-95 is dispensed at three gas stations. In the Suburban district, all six gas stations are operational, only three of them do not have AI-100. In the Mozdok district, four gas stations are operational, two of them have only diesel fuel. At three gas stations in the Iraf district, there is only AI-92 and diesel fuel. In the Kirov district, three gas stations are operational, all have AI-95 and diesel fuel. In the Ardon district, out of two operational gas stations, one has only diesel fuel, the other also has AI-92 and AI-95.

Thus, the list provides information about 61 gas stations, on July 12, the website contained information about 76 gas stations.

On July 14, the Ministry of Housing and Utilities reported that, by order of the Head of the Republic, a working group has been created at the Ministry of Housing and Utilities to check facts of unjustified price increases for automotive fuel. "The reason for the checks was the results of price monitoring conducted by the ministry. According to data as of July 9, 2026, a significant price discrepancy for AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline was identified in Vladikavkaz. At several gas stations, the price of AI-95 exceeds 90 rubles per liter. According to monitoring results, a price of 92.5 rubles per liter was recorded at the "Sarmat" gas station (VitOil) on Promyshlennaya Street, 5, "Sarmat" gas station on Leonova Street, 10, and "Troya" gas station on Barbashova Street, 70. At the "Gefest" gas station on Pozharskogo Street, 2, AI-95 gasoline is sold for 97 rubles per liter, at the "Lux Oil" gas station (Moscow Highway/ Gadiyeva Street) — for 99 rubles, and the highest price — 115 rubles per liter — was recorded at the "Shag" gas station in Pugacheva Lane, 3. The price imbalance in the fuel market of the republic has no objective economic justification. The indicated facts may indicate signs of violations of antimonopoly legislation," the agency reported.

The ministry also promised to launch a mobile application on July 21-22 that will allow real-time information about the availability of fuel at gas stations, its grades, and prices.
