Cherkessk activist Kase Kik was sentenced in absentia in a case about fakes regarding the army.

The city court of Cherkessk sentenced Kase Kik to seven years, recognizing his publication on social media as the dissemination of fakes about the army. The sentence was issued in absentia, as Kik lives outside of Russia.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in June 2022, security forces detained Kase Kik in Cherkessk after he ordered a Ukrainian song in a café. He stated that he was subjected to torture and a protocol for petty hooliganism was drawn up against him. The court sentenced him to seven days of arrest, finding him guilty. In June of the same year, the Cherkessk activist left Russia. In July 2024, security forces conducted a search at Kase Kik's parents' home. He called the unauthorized search an attempt at pressure.

Earlier, the police drew up a protocol for discrediting the military against Cherkessk activist Kase Kik, but on June 9, 2023, the court returned the material to the Internal Affairs Directorate due to procedural violations. The case was again submitted to the court on July 7, 2023, but the court closed it, as the statute of limitations for administrative liability had expired.

The Cherkessk city court sentenced the 45-year-old local activist Kase Kik to 7 years in prison in absentia for the dissemination of fakes about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred. A press release about the activist's sentence was published on the website of the Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic following a request from "Mediazona".

The court's message states that the accused published a video with "knowingly false" statements about the actions of Russian military in Ukraine in January 2025 on "a social network banned in the territory of the Russian Federation". He was also banned from administering websites on the internet for three years, writes "Mediazona" (listed in the register of foreign agents).

Kase Kik himself did not comment on the court's decision on his social media page.
