The authorities' report on the reconciliation of divorced couples has caused skepticism among the residents of Chechnya.
It is unlikely that a divorced couple can be reunited with the involvement of third parties, and if it does happen, it will be for a short time, said residents of Chechnya, commenting on social media about the authorities' report on the reconciliation of more than three thousand divorced couples.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 12, the authorities of Chechnya reported that from July 4, 2017, when commissions for resolving family conflicts began to operate in the republic, until July 11 of this year, 6020 divorced couples were identified in Chechnya, of which 3038 were reunited.
Members of the commission for resolving family conflicts ask strange questions, the conversations resemble interrogations, residents of Grozny who underwent this procedure reported. Representatives of the clergy, elders, and psychologists are unlikely to save a marriage if a serious conflict arises, noted human rights activist Svetlana Gannushkina.

"First to the imam, then to the district qadi, and then to the muftiyat – if the issue is not resolved by the imam or qadi," replied user imam_232_ in another comment.
The problem of domestic violence remains relevant in Chechnya
Human rights activists have repeatedly pointed out the critical situation regarding women's rights in the republics of the North Caucasus. Traditions and customs there predispose to violence against women in the family, physical abuse by husbands is considered normal by the authorities, and victims of violence are reluctant to contact the police, they noted.
Earlier, a story about the death of Madina Umaeva from Gudermes caused a wide resonance in Chechnya. She was buried at night. Umaeva died on June 12, 2020, in her husband's house, who claimed that Madina died after falling down the stairs during an epileptic seizure.
Umaeva's relatives stated that there were frequent quarrels between her and her husband. Umaeva's body was exhumed on June 20, 2020, three days later Ramzan Kadyrov intervened in the case. He stated that Umaeva's relatives had no evidence that her husband was guilty of her death. After that, Umaeva's mother apologized for her words about her daughter's violent death.
The commissions for resolving family conflicts in Chechnya were created by the order of the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov. Family reunifications occur under pressure and often become traumatic for those who for various reasons decided to divorce, analysts previously surveyed by the "Caucasian Knot" noted. These commissions receive information about marriages concluded under an agreement with the civil registry offices, the head of the Chechen Muslim Spiritual Administration, Supyan Kurbanov, previously indicated.
