A fighter from the Astrakhan region was killed in the military operation.

Peter Smirnov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, authorities and security forces have acknowledged at least 751 fighters from the Astrakhan region as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by July 5, at least 750 fighters from the Astrakhan region were officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The last names were announced by the administration of the Krasnoyarsk municipal district - Temirlan Kaidarov and Aimbek Bisembiev.

A native of the village of Vatazhnoe, he entered the Astrakhan vocational school in 1997, specializing as a "High-Voltage Electrician." In 2000, he was drafted for compulsory military service, which he served in Krasnodar Krai, Chechnya, and Dagestan.

On September 22, 2022, he was mobilized, awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously) and the Medal for Bravery II class. He was killed at the age of 44.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation.
