The inmate was fined in Kabardino-Balkaria for discrediting the army.

The court in the Chegem district fined the inmate of the local colony Alibek Suyunchev, recognizing his words about the contract for participation in the special military operation as "haram" as discrediting the army.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on March 4, 2022, responsibility for discrediting the armed forces was introduced, since then residents of Russia, including Kabardino-Balkaria, have been prosecuted under the relevant article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. It provides for fines for citizens from 30,000 to 100,000 rubles, and repeated violations within a year threaten criminal prosecution.

Haram – in Islam, this refers to any actions, deeds, or things that are strictly prohibited. Committing such acts is considered a sin for which a person is held accountable, as stated on the website Islam-today.ru.

According to the case materials, the convicted Alibek Suyunchev, serving his sentence in the colony in the village of Kamyanka in the Chegem district, stated in the presence of other inmates that signing a contract to participate in the military operation in Ukraine is a so-called "haram" and that they will die. Suyunchev made these remarks when Ministry of Defense officials were conducting propaganda in the colony.

The security forces drew up a protocol against Suyunchev. The Chegem District Court found him guilty of discrediting the army and fined him 30,000 rubles, as reported in the case card published on the court's website.
