Pro-European protests in Tbilisi continue for 590 days
Participants of the rally on Rustaveli Avenue on the 590th day of protests condemned the "Georgian Dream" for political arrests and demanded the release of prisoners of conscience.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 9, on the 589th day of continuous protests, demonstrators outside the Parliament of Georgia condemned the "Georgian Dream" for political pressure on socially vulnerable citizens, while relatives of political prisoners held a protest action outside the Public Broadcaster's building.
Continuous protests by supporters of Georgia's Euro-integration continue on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. Today, citizens demanding the return of the country to a Euro-Atlantic course, the release of political prisoners, free elections, and the repeal of repressive laws gathered in front of the Parliament building for the 590th consecutive day, reports Publika.
Demonstrators held placards: "Koçy , are you not ashamed?", "Arrests after arrests, Bolshevism in Georgia", "The number of political prisoners is growing faster than our future" and "Batumi - a city of destructive construction", according to a publication by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) on Facebook*
According to a video posted on social media by user David Bolqvadze, at least 150 people participated in the gathering. Activists with flags of Georgia, the European Union, and Ukraine mainly stood on the sidewalk closer to the roadway of Rustaveli Avenue.
Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters.
