Member of the party "Prosperous Armenia" Aregnaz Manukyan has been arrested.
According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, candidate for deputy from the party "Prosperous Armenia" and member of the board of the party "Mother Armenia" Aregnaz Manukyan has been arrested for two months.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on June 12, employees of the Investigative Committee of Armenia conducted a search in the apartment of former deputy of the "Armenia" bloc and candidate for deputy from the party "Prosperous Armenia" Aregnaz Manukyan. She was interrogated in a case of espionage and treason, for which the head of the party "Mother Armenia" and candidate for deputy from "Prosperous Armenia" Andranik Tevanyan had previously been arrested. On July 9, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced that Aregnaz Manukyan was detained for subsequent transfer to court.
On May 22, employees of the NSS conducted searches in the office of the party "Mother Armenia" and in the apartment of its leader Andranik Tevanyan, who is second on the list of candidates from the party "Prosperous Armenia". Tevanyan is accused of treason and espionage. The court has placed him under arrest for two months, allowing him to participate in the electoral processes through representatives.
The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan has ordered the arrest for two months of candidate for deputy from the party "Prosperous Armenia" Aregnaz Manukyan, reports the publication Armenpress, citing the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
"Prosperous Armenia" and the party "Mother Armenia" together participated in the parliamentary elections.
As part of the proceedings against Manukyan, a criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of article 427 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (disclosure of information containing state secrets).
The opposition parties "Prosperous Armenia" and "Wings of Unity", as well as the "Armenia" bloc, demanded that the electoral commission recount the votes of voters at 555 polling stations, while "Strong Armenia" demanded to annul the results at one of the stations. As a result of the recount, the result for "Prosperous Armenia" increased by 140 votes. On June 11, the results of voting at two polling stations in Armenia were annulled by the decision of the Central Electoral Commission. As a result, "Prosperous Armenia" lost 213 votes.
The parliamentary elections have effectively become a referendum on the future of the current government and Armenia's foreign policy course. A reference titled "2026 Elections to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia" has been published on the "Caucasian Knot".
