A resident of Dagestan received a sentence for involvement with militants in Syria.

A court in Dagestan sentenced local resident Khalipat Salavatova to six years in prison for participating in an illegal armed formation in Syria, but postponed the execution of the sentence until her child turns 14.

The woman was charged with participating in an illegal armed formation (part 2 of article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This article provides for a sentence of eight to fifteen years with a restriction of freedom for a period of one to two years.

According to the prosecution, in 2016, Khalipat Salavatova voluntarily joined an armed group in Syria, which is part of an international terrorist organization. Until November 2025, she performed "logistical support tasks" in the interests of the militants, reported RIA "Dagestan" citing the republican FSB department.

The Khasavyurt District Court sentenced the accused to six years in a general regime colony, but postponed the serving of the sentence: the woman will begin serving her term after her child turns 14. The sentence has entered into legal force, the agency noted.

The case of Khalipat Salavatova was submitted to the court on January 28, 2026, the proceedings took less than a month - the sentence was issued on February 24, according to the Khasavyurt District Court registry. The head of the Khasavyurt pre-trial detention center No. 3 participated in the process, indicating that Salavatova was in custody during the trial. The prosecutor filed an appeal against the sentence in the Supreme Court of Dagestan, and on April 30, the appellate instance upheld the sentence. There is no information in the registry about what exactly the prosecutor appealed.

Khalipat Salavatova is a native of the village of Kostek in the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan, she is 30 years old, according to the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. Salavatova's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was entered into the register on July 19, 2024.

When and under what circumstances the woman returned from Syria to Dagestan is unknown. The "Caucasian Knot" currently has no comments from Salavatova or her lawyer regarding the sentence.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in December 2025, a court in Dagestan sentenced 62-year-old Lazai Kazimagomedova to eight years in prison, who left for Syria in the spring of 2015.
