The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia demanded the confiscation of Tsarukyan's property.
This is about the seizure of a land plot and buildings on the shore of Lake Sevan.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 7, the court arrested for two months the leader of the opposition party "Prosperous Armenia", billionaire Gagik Tsarukyan, accused of fraud and tax evasion.
On July 6, law enforcement conducted searches at the home of the leader of "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan and in all his companies. After the searches, Tsarukyan was detained on suspicion of fraud and money laundering as part of an organized group. Several opposition forces in Armenia called Tsarukyan's detention political persecution.
The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia filed a lawsuit in the Anti-Corruption Court demanding the confiscation of the property of the "Multi Group" concern located on the shore of Lake Sevan, owned by Tsarukyan.
The Prosecutor's Office demands the revocation of ownership rights to a land plot of 1.21 hectares and a wooden building of 60 square meters, which was registered on November 29, 1996, as well as to declare invalid the sale transaction between JSC "Beglu" and Gagik Tsarukyan dated September 8, 2000. If the lawsuit is satisfied, the land plot of 0.29114 hectares, the buildings and structures built on the land plot, namely: residential houses with an area of 425.12 square meters, a boat station with an area of 23.04 square meters, a fence with an area of 100.8 square meters, will pass into state ownership, as reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, News.am.
Tsarukyan's party "Prosperous Armenia" along with other Armenian political parties previously issued a statement about the illegitimacy of the authorities and plans to seek their removal. On June 25, it became known that the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia sent a petition to the Central Electoral Commission to deprive Gagik Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity.
Eco-activists in Armenia reported a threat to the lives of animals from Tsarukyan's zoo
The lives of the pets from Gagik Tsarukyan's private zoo are in danger. This was stated by the founder of the organization "Eco-media" Narine Kirakosyan. "Park staff informed us that the entrance doors to the park are sealed and the police do not allow the caretakers of the animals and plants to enter the territory to water the plants and feed the numerous birds, fish, as well as 12 purebred sport horses (Arabian, English) and 9 Nile crocodiles," Kirakosyan wrote on Facebook*.
According to her information, the horses have not had water for more than a day, and the crocodiles have been starving for over 10 days, as they are fed once a week according to the schedule.
Meanwhile, lawyer Zarui Postandzhyan demanded that the investigative authorities clarify the circumstances of the death of the lioness owned by Tsarukyan and assess the actions of the investigator who made the decision to seize three lions and a tiger from the businessman.
Postandzhyan noted that on the decision of the investigator of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, on July 6, the process of confiscation and transportation of animals from Gagik Tsarukyan's private house to the Yerevan zoo was carried out. "During the operation to seize the animals, a sedative/anesthetic was administered, after which one of the lionesses was delivered to the zoo but did not come out of anesthesia. According to the official statement of the zoo, the animal had many age-related and concomitant diseases (liver, heart, lung diseases). I believe that the actions of the investigator contain elements of a crime," the lawyer demanded in a publication on her Facebook* page.
Postandzhyan also asked the investigation to clarify the legality and safety of the conditions for keeping other confiscated animals to prevent their death or harm to their health.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the election campaign in May stated that the "Araratcement" plant, owned by the family of the leader of the opposition "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan, would be nationalized. After that, the prosecutor's office reported a case in connection with violations during the privatization of the enterprise. Before the elections, the prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit in court demanding the annulment of the privatization of the "Araratcement" enterprise.
It should be noted that earlier analysts noted that the "Prosperous Armenia" party, the "Armenia" bloc of former president Robert Kocharian, and the "Strong Armenia" bloc of entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan are the most pro-Russian participants in the elections to the Armenian parliament.
