The number of killed fighters in Ukraine from southern Russia has reached 9400.

At least 4662 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4738 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", authorities and security forces as of June 3 officially recognized as killed during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine at least 9350 military personnel from the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD). The highest number of military casualties was from Dagestan.

Since the beginning of the SMO, authorities and security forces have recognized at least 9400 fighters from the southern regions of Russia and the republics of the North Caucasus as killed.

According to official data, as of July 6, at least 4662 fighters from the NCFD have died in the military operation. The highest number of casualties, as before, is from Dagestan: 2026 fighters. The deaths of 959 military personnel from the Stavropol Krai, 589 from North Ossetia, 425 from Kabardino-Balkaria (the names of 412 of them are known to the "Caucasian Knot", and the deaths of another 13 fighters became known from the authorities' report on compensation payments to the families of the deceased in 2022), 265 from Chechnya (the authorities published the names of 242 killed, and the deaths of another 23 fighters were reported by Ramzan Kadyrov on October 27, 2022, without naming them), 198 from Karachay-Cherkessia, and 200 from Ingushetia have been confirmed.

Officially, 4738 military personnel from the SFD have been recognized as killed during the special operation. Among the regions of the SFD, the highest number of killed (1813) is from the Volgograd region. Also recognized as killed are 937 military personnel from the Rostov region, 864 fighters from the Krasnodar Krai, 750 from the Astrakhan region, 234 from Kalmykia, and 140 from Adygea.

It should be noted that the first representative of the authorities to report that a Russian military personnel was killed during the SMO was the former head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he reported that officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov was killed in Ukraine.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the real losses among military personnel from the North Caucasus may be significantly higher than those officially recognized. This situation is characteristic of all regions of the NCFD, but is especially relevant for Chechnya. The head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov in February 2023 called on regional leaders not to disclose the number of killed.
