The operation of the cable cars at the ski resort "Elbrus" in Kabardino-Balkaria has been suspended due to a lack of electricity.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the current ski season on "Elbrus" was opened on December 6, 2025. On the occasion of the opening, a new skiing area with two cable cars was launched at the resort .
Prielbrusye is a winter resort in Kabardino-Balkaria, popular among skiing, freeriding, snowboarding, and other extreme sports enthusiasts.
Due to the power outage in the Elbrus region, the cable cars at the "Elbrus" ski resort are not operating today, the resort administration reported on its Telegram channel.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier the residents of Kabardino-Balkaria criticized the authorities' report on tourism development. The Ministry of Resorts of the republic reported its intention to work with Moscow State University to improve staff qualifications and conduct research. Local residents, commenting on the ministry's report on social media, pointed out to officials that unresolved issues with garbage disposal, broken roads, and high gasoline prices hinder tourism development.
It should be noted that this year, floods in the North Caucasus caused by heavy rains have been among the most destructive in recent years, but in Kabardino-Balkaria, the rains were minor.
