"Strong Armenia" announced its readiness to work in parliament.
"Strong Armenia" will take mandates and will work in parliament. "Civil Contract" was unable to gain a constitutional majority, and the work of the opposition in parliament will allow blocking a number of decisions, said the first on the list of the bloc, Narek Karapetyan.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the Constitutional Court of Armenia rejected the appeals of seven political forces challenging the results of the parliamentary elections on June 7 and upheld the decision of the Central Election Commission regarding the voting results. The blocs "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia", the parties "Prosperous Armenia", "Armenian National Congress", and "National-Democratic Pole" declared the illegitimacy of the authorities and plans to seek their removal. They also decided to jointly fight against constitutional changes, persecution of the church, and to seek the release of political prisoners.
“Strong Armenia” will take mandates, said Narek Karapetyan, who heads the list of “Strong Armenia”.
“We are preparing to call people to the streets when we see an opportunity for change, and thus we concluded that it is right for us to take mandates and have representation in the National Assembly, which will also support street protests tomorrow,” News.Am quotes him.
Karapetyan emphasized that Nikol Pashinyan is the weakest prime minister in the history of independent Armenia.
“Despite administrative pressure and violations during the elections, Pashinyan was unable to gain a majority of the counted votes; he could not achieve his main political goal — to secure a constitutional majority. There are serious grounds to believe that the real support for 'Civil Contract' was lower than the officially published figures. If the elections had been truly free, independent, and competitive, the current prime minister of Armenia would be Samvel Karapetyan,” he said.
Narek Karapetyan noted that the people were promised victory, and they will bring that victory.
“We blocked Aliyev's constitutional changes. For the first time in history, Pashinyan does not have a constitutional majority; he has lost the trust of the majority of the people for the first time. We will win the municipal elections and continue to expand the trust of the people, and at the final stage, the people of Armenia will democratically change the current government,” he said.
The party "Prosperous Armenia" of oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, the bloc "Armenia" of ex-president Robert Kocharyan, and the bloc "Strong Armenia" of entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan were noted earlier by analysts as the most pro-Russian participants in the parliamentary elections in Armenia.
According to the decision of the Central Election Commission, taking into account the mandates of national minorities, "Civil Contract" has 64 mandates, while Karapetyan's bloc has 29, and the "Armenia" bloc received 12 mandates. "Prosperous Armenia" was unable to overcome the four percent barrier and enter parliament, according to the CEC's decision.
The parliamentary elections effectively became a referendum on the future of the current government and Armenia's foreign policy course. A reference titled "2026 Elections to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia" has been published on "Caucasian Knot".
