The Armenian opposition announced a new stage of resistance after the decision of the Constitutional Court.

The blocks "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia", the parties "Prosperous Armenia", "Armenian National Congress" and "National-Democratic Pole" declared the illegitimacy of the authorities and plans to seek their removal. They also decided to jointly fight against changes to the Constitution, the persecution of the church, and to seek the release of political prisoners.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", seven parties appealed to the Constitutional Court regarding the final decision of the Central Election Commission on the parliamentary elections. The Constitutional Court of Armenia rejected the claims of the seven political forces challenging the results of the parliamentary elections on June 7 and upheld the decision of the Central Election Commission on the voting results.

The party "Prosperous Armenia" of oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, the block "Armenia" of former president Robert Kocharyan, and the block "Strong Armenia" of entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan are among the parties that appealed the results of the parliamentary elections to the Constitutional Court of Armenia. They are also the most pro-Russian participants in the parliamentary elections, analysts noted earlier.

Five political forces formed a unified agenda

Five political forces of Armenia, the blocks "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia", the parties "Prosperous Armenia", "Armenian National Congress" and "National-Democratic Pole", issued a statement regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court of the republic on the results of the parliamentary elections, writes News.Am.

"The decision of the Constitutional Court: • does not resolve the issue of the legitimacy of the emerging power: the power formed under such conditions and with recorded results is devoid of legitimacy; does not correct electoral fraud, does not eliminate mass violations during the elections, and does not resolve the deep political and legal crisis existing in the country," the authors of the statement indicated.

We will use all legislative, public, and political means to prevent changes to the Constitution

They noted that they reached an agreement on fundamental directions, forming a unified political agenda.

The first point states "preventing imposed changes to the Constitution of Armenia". "We will use all legislative, public, and political means to prevent changes to the Constitution, which is a direct and irreversible blow to the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia," the opposition parties stated.

The second point of the unified agenda became the protection of the Armenian Apostolic Church. "The cornerstone of our political agenda will be the protection of the exclusive mission of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, its rights, property, and authority from any encroachments, guaranteed by Article 18 of the Constitution," they indicated.

The opposition also intends to focus on the protection of the rights of political prisoners, the number of which sharply increased during the campaigning and after the parliamentary elections, and the removal of the current authorities. "The change of power and the formation of a national authority of a new quality remain the only prerequisite for restoring constitutional order, establishing solidarity, and ensuring security in the country," the statement indicated.

The authors noted that the decision of the Constitutional Court is "not the end of the struggle, but the beginning of a new, more systematic, institutional, and large-scale stage of political resistance," yet did not specify concrete steps, as "discussions among opposition political forces regarding further actions on the above points are ongoing."

The opposition criticized the decision of the Constitutional Court

The decision of the Constitutional Court to uphold the results of the parliamentary elections indicates the absence of constitutional justice in Armenia, stated a representative of the "Strong Armenia" block, lawyer Ara Vardevanyan.

"In Armenia, there is a Constitution, there is a Constitutional Court, but there is no constitutional justice," Armenia Today quoted him.

The evidence of violations presented by the opposition during the elections was irrefutable, went beyond evaluative judgments, and was obvious, he indicated.

What they were afraid of, what pressure there was - time will tell

A representative of the "Prosperous Armenia" party, lawyer Ara Orbelian, commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court, stated that the Constitutional Court became a participant in the theft of votes and, at the very least, did not stop it.

"The Central Election Commission stole votes, and as a result, the votes of 58,500 citizens, due to manipulations and mathematical tricks, were registered as if they had not passed. The Constitutional Court, having the opportunity to catch them red-handed, did not do so. What they were afraid of, what pressure there was - time will tell," News.Am quoted him.

In his assessment, based on the consideration of the opposition's claims and the arguments of its representatives in the Constitutional Court, "Prosperous Armenia" should have at least received mandates.

The parliamentary elections effectively became a referendum on the future of the current authorities and the foreign policy course of Armenia. A reference titled "Elections 2026 to the National Assembly (parliament) of Armenia" has been published on the "Caucasian Knot".
