The quality of the sand at the Anapa beach has raised concerns among Telegram users.
At the "Caucasus" beach, where the replenishment with new sand has recently been completed, strong waves expose hard pieces resembling concrete debris.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", 11 beaches in Anapa are undergoing examination after the sand replenishment, while 75 beaches are open for recreation and swimming. Earlier, the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratiev, compared the sand on the beaches of Anapa and Thailand, while the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko, compared the beaches of Anapa and the French Riviera. Telegram users doubted whether the replenishment with new sand on the beaches of Anapa was really necessary, and the continuation of work in the height of the resort season caused their dissatisfaction.
Activists are concerned that the quality of the sand used to replenish the beaches of Anapa is drastically different from the sand of the dunes. This could destroy the reputation of the city as a resort, activists believe. The new sand hardens after rain and turns into a suspension in the water, Telegram users pointed out.
Bloggers Yuri Ozarovsky published a complaint about the quality of the sand at the "Caucasus" beach, which was sent to him by a subscriber named Larisa.
"The wave washes away the sand, leaving such pieces... There are a lot of them! When you walk on the new sand, it often hurts to step..." - she wrote.
This message received eight comments. "A year ago, everything was great at the "Caucasus" beach: clean sand, clean sea with a huge amount of wildlife without a hint of oil," commented Marina***.
"Instead of quartz, they brought this <...>, with clay that stinks! Just disgusting, that's not what the beaches have become," writes Olga.
"They killed the golden sands of Anapa," exclaimed Danny Trejo.
The resort season in Anapa opened against a sharp contrast in the state of the coastline. Some beaches are open and deemed safe, while other areas are closed due to erosion, unstable soil, and environmental risks. Information about which beaches are ready for visitors and which pose dangers is provided in the "Caucasian Knot" reference "Anapa Beaches: Open and Dangerous Areas".
