On June 29, the authorities reported that only part of the gas stations in the Krasnodar region are operating, and some of them have imposed restrictions on sales at the owners' decision. Governor Veniamin Kondratiev explained the rise in fuel prices by the tourist season and the influx of vacationers. More than a third of gas stations in Kuban have closed or reduced their operating hours, the vice-governor of the region stated on July 1. In at least three municipalities, the authorities sent Cossacks and militia to gas stations to prevent conflicts in the queues for gasoline.
In Krasnodar, two residents of the Rostov region were detained while transporting a thousand liters of AI-95 gasoline in a rented car for resale. The two young men found a wholesale buyer from Krasnodar through a messenger, after which they purchased gasoline at a gas station in Rostov-on-Don and headed to the neighboring region, Interfax reported, citing the Kuban Interior Ministry.
They planned to resell the gasoline in the Krasnodar region at an inflated price. The detainees are suspected of producing, storing, transporting, or selling goods and products that do not meet safety requirements .
In the Rostov region, speculation with fuel has also been suppressed, with more than 15 thousand liters of fuel confiscated from resellers, the regional Interior Ministry reported.
In particular, in the village of Samarsky on the M-4 "Don" highway, 3.5 thousand liters of diesel fuel and one gas station pump were confiscated from an unregistered seller. In Shakhty, a man who was offering gasoline for 140 rubles per liter had 300 liters of AI-92, AI-95, and diesel fuel confiscated. Additionally, two incidents of diesel fuel sales were suppressed in the Krasnosulinsky district, where 600 liters of fuel were confiscated and makeshift equipment was seized.
Moreover, a truck with eight tons of fuel in plastic containers was stopped in the Matveyevo-Kurgan district of the Rostov region. The driver was held accountable for violating the rules for transporting hazardous goods. In the Neklinovsky district, a resident of Crimea was transporting more than 850 liters of AI-95 gasoline and one thousand liters of diesel fuel in plastic containers in the car's cabin, and an administrative protocol was also drawn up against him.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the authorities of Kuban reported restrictions on nighttime fuel sales and urged to minimize trips. In Krasnodar, against the backdrop of information about 44 out of 114 gas stations operating, places in the queue for gasoline began to be sold.
