Security forces reported the prevention of a terrorist act in Pyatigorsk.

A native of Central Asia, under the direction of a curator from Syria, planned to carry out an explosion at the railway station in Pyatigorsk, reported the FSB.

A terrorist act planned by a native of one of the Central Asian countries, a supporter of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, has been prevented in Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai, reported the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia today.

According to security forces, under the direction of a curator located in Syria, the detained individual was preparing an attack using a homemade incendiary device on a transport railway infrastructure facility. He conducted a photo shoot of the facility, then acquired components and chemicals for making incendiary bottles. After carrying out the terrorist act, he intended to leave for Syria.

At the residence of the detained individual, ready-to-use homemade incendiary devices were discovered and seized, as well as communication devices containing instructions from the curator.

A criminal case is being investigated under articles on preparation for a terrorist act (part 1 of article 30, part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and participation in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist on the territory of the Russian Federation (part 2, article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

Security forces also released a video in which a young man films buildings and the platform at the railway station with a mobile phone, after which he is detained. In the recording, he states that he arrived from the Rostov region to Stavropol Krai. He met someone named Mikhail on the internet and then pledged allegiance to a terrorist organization.

Earlier, analysts interviewed by "Caucasian Knot" debated the regular reports from the FSB about prevented terrorist acts. The reports are due to the activity of terrorist supporters and the preventive measures of security forces, stated journalist Vasily Balditsyn and scholar Alexey Gunya. Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Amir Kolov countered that special services are also pursuing activists and critics of the security forces in the North Caucasus.
