The investigation has once again issued a ruling to terminate the criminal case regarding the beating of a cadet from the Shakhty Cossack Cadet Corps. The defense intends to appeal the decision.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," more than a year and a half after a cadet from the Cossack Corps in Shakhty filed a complaint about the beating, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under the article on abuse of power. Previously, a lawyer representing the cadet's family complained about delays in initiating a criminal case. In May 2025, a cadet from the Shakhty Cossack Corps was recognized as a victim in a criminal case of assault, in which the institution's director is suspected. Lawyers demanded the suspect's temporary suspension from office.
In November 2023, a 15-year-old ninth-grader from the Shakhty Cossack Cadet Corps complained of assault by one of the institution's directors. According to medical reports, the teenager suffered a broken finger, a chest contusion, and multiple hematomas. Since the crime report was registered, five decisions have been made to refuse to initiate criminal proceedings.
An investigator with the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Rostov Region has again issued a decision to terminate the criminal case regarding the beating of a cadet from the Shakhty Cossack Cadet Corps, 161.ru reported on June 28.
A lawyer representing the cadet's interests reported that investigators promised to familiarize him with the case materials, but in reality, another decision to terminate it was issued. According to him, the investigation is effectively stalled, decisions are constantly overturned, and then a new review and investigation is formally launched, but there are no results.
The victim's representative has repeatedly filed motions to temporarily suspend the corps' leadership, but there has been no response. He promised that the decision to terminate the criminal case will be appealed this time as well. The case materials are currently being reviewed by the Shakhty city prosecutor's office for a legal decision.
As a reminder, teachers and leadership of the Cossack Corps claimed that no one had beaten the teenager. However, the boy's classmates indirectly confirmed his version of events: they saw him emerge after a conversation with the leader, "gasping and clutching his chest," with a red face. One of the corps leaders, whom the teenager directly accused of assault, told investigators that he had merely grabbed the boy "by the collar and taken his phone."
