According to the "Caucasian Knot," by June 25, authorities had officially announced at least 4,628 soldiers from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,673 from the Southern Federal District, including 900 from the Rostov Region, killed in Ukraine.
The Salsky District Administration reported on the presentation of the Order of Courage to the families and friends of those killed during the military operation in Ukraine on its Telegram channel.
The following were posthumously awarded: Corporals Oleg Koshevoy and Dmitry Eremenko; Sergeant Major Alexey Kovalevsky; and Privates Vasily Gorbachev, Ivan Kozhevnikov, Artem Bagryantsev, Vyacheslav Golubev, Viktor Grimailov, and Vyacheslav Mazur.
Thus, at least 909 soldiers from the Rostov Region have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia".
In early March, the Salsky District administration reported that Nikolai Shurkhovetsky, Denis Lazarev, and Viktor Fedorevsky had been killed in Ukraine.
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits", which describes the stories of fighters from other regions. In particular, the widow of one of the killed soldiers said that without a body, the battalion did not make payments in connection with the death of the soldier.
