About 200 displaced persons from Palestine received 20,000 rubles each from the Akhmat Kadyrov Public Foundation. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced the distribution of the funds.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," Chechen authorities previously reported the arrival of 209 refugees from Palestine; several months later, the families were given keys to their apartments. Earlier, at a meeting with the refugees, Akhmed Dudayev stated that they should maintain cleanliness and be more organized, and that they should not rush the republic's authorities to resolve their problems. Dudayev's criticism of his guests contradicts Chechen traditions of hospitality, noted Caucasus scholars and human rights activists.
Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced on his Telegram channel on June 21 that financial aid had been provided to Palestinian displaced persons.
According to Kadyrov, the decision to provide the aid was made by his mother, Aymani Kadyrova, president of the regional public foundation named after Akhmat Kadyrov. More than 200 Palestinian displaced persons received 20,000 rubles each. "We understand perfectly well the difficulties people fleeing death and devastation are experiencing, and we strive to create an atmosphere of security, stability, and hope for them," the publication states.
As a reminder, the activities of charitable organizations collecting aid for Palestine have been suspended in Chechnya. Authorities explained this decision by citing a lack of transparency and concerns that funds could be misused. They also noted that the aid to Palestine is provided by Kadyrov's foundation.
The Kadyrov Foundation was established in 2004. Construction projects of grandiose skyscrapers, exorbitant fees for celebrities, and mixed martial arts tournaments are mentioned alongside the social and economic projects typically found in government reports when discussing the foundation's activities. All public sector employees in Chechnya are required to donate approximately 10% of their income to charity every month, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Kadyrov's Foundation: How They Spend "Money from Allah"."
