A soldier from Prokhladny was killed in the SVO.

Sergey Khaustov has been killed in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 407 fighters from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed.

According to the "Caucasian Knot," representatives of the authorities and security agencies previously officially recognized at least 406 fighters from Kabardino-Balkaria as killed since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO).

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Northeastern Military District Statistics: Casualties Mounting in Southern Russia."

Sergey Khaustov was killed in the military operation zone in Ukraine, the Prokhladny administration reported on its VKontakte page.

Thus, at least 407 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed in the Northeastern Military District. The "Caucasian Knot" knows the names of 394 of them, and the deaths of another 13 were revealed in a report by the republic's authorities on payments to the families of those killed in 2022.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of the killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. In particular, the widow of one of the slain soldiers said that without a body, the battalion did not make any payments in connection with the death of the soldier.
