Krasnodar residents criticized the mayor's office's report on flood relief.
Utility services are ignoring requests from Krasnodar residents for water pumping, residents complained, commenting on the authorities' flood cleanup report on social media. They called on officials to deploy additional personnel and increase the number of motor pumps.
As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel," on June 14, residents of the 9th Kilometer microdistrict in Krasnodar held a protest demanding a visit from the mayor. They complained that utility services are not pumping water from streets flooded after heavy rain.
Krasnodar residents have previously repeatedly complained that some streets in the city are flooded during rains. For example, on July 23, 2022, the Muzykalny microdistrict was flooded after a downpour. Residents noted that officials and utility services did not respond in any way. They complained that flooding in various parts of the city is occurring regularly due to problems with inoperative storm drains.
Most localized flooding in Krasnodar has been eliminated. In three days, Krasnodar rescuers responded to more than 400 requests for water pumping, the city administration reported today on its Telegram channel.
Currently, efforts are primarily focused on eliminating major flooding. Work continues on Yaroslavskaya and Volgogradskaya Streets near the 9th kilometer, Aksayskaya Street, Topolina Street, and 4, as well as on the grounds of the Emergency Hospital, the statement said.
"18 pieces of equipment and 16 motor pumps are being used," the mayor's office clarified.
This Krasnodar authorities' flood relief report was posted today on the VKontakte social network by the "Typical Krasnodar" public group, which has more than 483,000 subscribers. As of 11:40 a.m. Moscow time, this post had 24 likes and 19 comments.
"I've been submitting requests for three days, to no avail. The garage is flooded, the laminate flooring in the house is ruined, the walls are wet, the plants are dead, and the yard is silted. No one came or pumped anything out. One day, when the road was blocked, two cars drove by and that was it," wrote a Krasnodar resident.
"Vodokanal" canceled the request and said, "We don't pump water; call the city duty officer." "Also, the city duty officer cancels the request and says, 'We don't handle this,'" wrote Kirill Dolmatov.
"Why so little equipment?" asked Irina Melnik.
"Is 34 units of equipment a 'massive amount'? For a city of two million?" wondered Andrey Lychany.
"Why only Krasnodar rescuers? We don't have any nearby regional forces? We do. So get them involved. It's already been shown on federal channels." "They've become famous again," noted Vladislav Mod.
"The rescue of flood victims is the work of the flood victims themselves," quipped Sergey Murashov.
"How interesting, but why do we pay taxes?" wrote Tatiana Surina.
As of 11:40 a.m. Moscow time, there are no comments on the Krasnodar administration website regarding residents' complaints about utility companies ignoring requests for water pumping.
