According to the "Caucasian Knot," as of May 28, authorities and security forces have officially recognized at least 399 fighters from Kabardino-Balkaria as killed since the beginning of the military operation.

Alexey Bagishev, Vyacheslav Astafyev, Zamir Kokayev, Zaur Kokov, and Sergey Bavin have been killed in the military operation zone in Ukraine. The names and photographs of these and other soldiers are listed on a memorial stand, the opening of which was announced by the Prokhladny administration on its VKontakte page.

Thus, at least 404 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The "Caucasian Knot" knows the names of 391 of them, while the deaths of another 13 were revealed in the republic's government report on payments to the families of those killed in 2022.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of the killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. In particular, the widow of one of the slain soldiers said that without a body, the battalion did not make any payments in connection with the death of the soldier.
