Residents of Gelendzhik independently restored the bridge across the river.

Residents of the village of Vozrozhdenie in Gelendzhik independently restored a bridge across a river that had been washed away by floodwaters. Commenters on Telegram criticized officials for their indifference to the residents' concerns.

A video showing residents of the village of Vozrozhdenie installing a new bridge was published on June 13 by the Telegram channel "Tupodar Krasnodar."

The footage shows the river and several dozen people installing the metal structure. Footage then continues, showing the bridge previously washed away by the river. The new bridge is shown again, its structure lying on the ground, with two people painting it.

"Local residents repaired the bridge that was washed away by water in the Zhane River valley themselves, ensuring access and communication with neighboring settlements," the publication states.

This post on the Telegram channel "Tupodar Krasnodar," which has over 55,700 subscribers, had garnered about 5,500 views and 23 comments as of 6:50 AM Moscow time on June 14.

"Thanks to the regional administration," quipped a user with the nickname S.

"Why are they [highly expressive expression] sitting in the administration? Kick them out, kick them out."

How many of them there are, only God knows, and there's a budget for them. "It's being spent. The result is zero," wrote a user with the nickname s0m3t1ng.

"Unfortunately, we are now creating our own lives," noted Elena Chernovain. "This is a heroic feat. But, unfortunately, it is needed where normal means fail," stated Yana.

"Won't they hold the local residents accountable for this later? Like they didn't do it according to GOST standards, not right, not there," wrote a user with the nickname Cheshire Cat.

"Hats off to you, these people are heroes! But I'm afraid the government will ruin everything again," said Cuba. "There should also be a fine," Dan quipped.

"Isn't this arbitrary? The bridge should be restored by the winning company in accordance with the approved restoration project," wrote user Bright AI Future.

"Don't forget to pay your taxes later," wrote Mihail. "And it will stand for a long time, because they did it for themselves and did it well," said Olga.

As of 6:50 AM Moscow time on June 14, the websites of the Krasnodar Krai administration and the Gelendzhik administration have no comments regarding the independent restoration of the bridge by Gelendzhik residents.

"Caucasian Knot" previously wrote about the problems faced by residents of Kuban. Complaints about the collapsed waste collection system in municipalities have become commonplace. Illegal waste dumps and landfills operating under violations have also become the norm in Kuban. The disaster involving fuel oil tankers has caused enormous environmental damage. Residents of coastal areas are protesting against changes to development plans for the territories, which limit their ability to manage their homes. Furthermore, residents and those who have moved to Kuban are falling victim to scammers and unscrupulous developers, and often risk losing their property. Activists and people with opposition views often become victims of persecution by officials and security forces.
