Residents of Dagestan evacuated after a gas pipeline explosion have returned home.
Residents of the villages of Nizhniy Chiryurt, Gelbakh, and Bavtugay in the Kizilyurt district have returned home after experts determined that there is no threat to their homes.
According to the "Caucasian Knot," a fire broke out on the Mozdok-Kazimagomed main gas pipeline on June 9. Authorities later reported that at least 140 local residents, whose homes were located near the site of the explosion, had been evacuated.
Residents of several villages that were evacuated after the explosion on the Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas pipeline have returned to their homes, the press service of the Kizilyurt district reported.
"Residents of the settlements of Nizhniy Chiryurt, Gelbakh, and Bavtugay have returned to their homes; there is currently no threat to their homes," the press service of the Kizilyurt district reported. Today, Interfax quoted a press service employee as saying.
Acting Head of Dagestan Fyodor Shchukin confirmed on his Telegram channel today that evacuated residents have returned to their homes. "All residents have returned to their homes," he noted.
As a reminder, Dagestan authorities previously reported that a gas pipeline fire was caused by a depressurization. At the same time, Kizilyurt emphasized that rumors of a gas pipeline explosion are unfounded.
The accident interrupted gas supply to Kizilyurt and villages in the Kizilyurt and Kumtorkalinsky districts, and partially cut off gas supplies to Makhachkala. In addition, the administration of the Kazbekovsky district of Dagestan reported that gas outages affected four districts: Kazbekovsky, Kizilyurtovsky, Khasavyurtovsky, and Babayurtovsky.
