A Moscow court has extended Alina Dzhikaeva's arrest.

The arrest of Sapa's editor-in-chief, Alina Dzhikayeva, has been extended for another month.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on April 16, it was reported that Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky Court arrested Sapa Media's editor-in-chief, Alina Dzhikayeva, on charges of bribing a police officer in Makhachkala. Her defense appealed Dzhikayeva's arrest. After her arrest, at least three editors-in-chief of republican publications and the head of the regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia vouched for her, but the court refused to release Sapa's editor-in-chief from pretrial detention.

Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky District Court refused to change Alina Dzhikayeva's pretrial detention and extended her arrest for another month, until June 9, the Telegram channel "Sapa 15" reported.

The defense pointed out that Dzhikayeva is raising two young children, but the judge did not accept this as grounds for mitigating her pretrial detention, the publication notes.

Alina Dzhikayeva pleaded not guilty to bribery of a police officer, while police officer Shamsutdin Shamsutdinov admitted to the charges of abuse of power and bribery. According to investigators, an Interior Ministry employee paid Dzhikaeva to provide information about incidents in Dagestan and North Ossetia, along with the personal information of those involved. "Sapa" is a network of Telegram channels dedicated to news from North Ossetia, South Ossetia, and the entire North Caucasus. The project positioned itself as a "regional independent media outlet," publishing exclusive news about incidents, crime reports, and stories about the lives of ordinary people. The channel "Govorit NeMoskva" (included in the register of foreign agents) also featured.
