The Volgograd Central District Court has remanded blogger Alexey Ulyanov, accused of extortion, in custody until November 29.

As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel", on May 26, the case of Volgograd blogger Alexey Ulyanov, accused of extortion, was transferred to the court.

Blogger Alexey Ulyanov was left in pretrial detention, the Central District Court made this decision. The court, v1.ru reported on June 8.

According to Ulyanov's wife, the judge failed to take into account his children, his illness, and his health after a recent surgery. Moreover, she added, not a single prosecutor visited her husband during his six-month pretrial detention.

Ulyanov will remain in pretrial detention until November 29.

According to investigators, beginning in 2020, Alexey Ulyanov demanded monetary compensation from the heads of organizations and individuals to refrain from disseminating defamatory information. The amounts he intended to receive ranged from 100,000 to 6 million rubles. In one instance, the blogger, along with the owner of an anonymous internet channel, who is currently a defendant in another criminal case, acted in collusion to demand and subsequently receive 6 million rubles from a businessman, threatening to continue publishing defamatory materials. In another case, he extorted 100,000 rubles from the head of another company for not posting defamatory information, but was refused.
