The name of the Kalmykian soldier killed in Ukraine has been released.
Vladimir Tsygankov from Elista was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 229 combatants from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine.
As reported by the Caucasian Knot, by June 5, security forces and officials had officially recognized at least 228 fighters from Kalmykia killed in combat in Ukraine.
Vladimir Tsygankov was born on December 23, 1985, in Elista. He graduated from Elista School in 2000. In 2004, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces. After six months of military service, he signed a contract, according to the state-run RIA Kalmykia.
In January 2025, he signed a contract to participate in the Central Military District. He was assigned to the position of driver in a mortar platoon of a mortar battery. On May 3, 2025, Vladimir Tsygankov was killed.
Thus, at least 229 fighters from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation.
