The CEO of a Rostov plant was convicted of embezzling billions of dollars.

The Sovetsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced former General Director of the Tenth Bearing Plant, Alexander Dyachenko, to three years and ten months in prison, finding him guilty of fraud in the execution of a state defense order with damages of 2.2 billion rubles.

As reported by Kavkazsky Knot, in mid-May, the court sentenced former Financial Director of the Tenth Bearing Plant in Rostov-on-Don, Felix Zakhartsov, to four years and three months in prison for theft of property.

In January of this year, the investigation of the criminal case against General Director of the Tenth Bearing Plant, Alexander Dyachenko, and the plant's owners, Alexey and Lyudmila Kuleshov, was completed. Nikolai Borisov, the former director of economics and finance; Felix Zakhartsev, the head of the company's planning and economics department; and Roman Volkov, the former head of the Russian Defense Ministry's military representative office; Andrei Sukhomlin, who is accused of fraud and forgery, Interfax reported today, citing the FSB press service for the Rostov Region.

According to investigators, contracts for the supply of bearings were signed with the plant between 2020 and 2024 as part of a state defense order. Borisov, Dyachenko, Sukhomlin, the Kuleshovs, Volkov, and Zakhartsov inflated prices and knowingly provided false information in delivery documents for the products in question, ultimately stealing over 2.2 billion rubles, causing significant damage to the state and 16 industrial enterprises.

Alexander Dyachenko was tried separately from the other defendants because he pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial agreement with the prosecutor's office. During the closing arguments, the state prosecutor requested a sentence of four years and eight months in a general regime penal colony for Mr. Dyachenko, as well as a fine of 700,000 rubles and a two-year suspended sentence after his release, Kommersant reports.

Furthermore, the prosecutor stated that he believes it is necessary to disqualify the defendant from holding certain positions in commercial organizations for three years after serving his main sentence.

The defense requested a non-custodial sentence for the former general director.

Ultimately, the court sentenced Alexander Dyachenko to three years and ten months in a general regime penal colony. He was found guilty of fraud. .

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that in mid-March, the head of a Rostov chemical plant was arrested for embezzlement of defense contracts. He is suspected of abuse of power in the manufacture of products critical to the military operation.
