Astrakhan residents have been trying to get the authorities to resolve their infrastructure problems for two years.
Residents of Astrakhan's Yango-Aul and Svobodny Settlement held a meeting with the district head to discuss sidewalk improvements, which they have been seeking for two years.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," residents of Astrakhan's Yango-Aul and Svobodny Settlement have repeatedly sent appeals to officials demanding a solution to street lighting, road and sidewalk maintenance, playground improvements, and issues with stray dogs and garbage collection. Authorities have ignored these appeals. At the end of August 2024, authorities in Astrakhan's Leninsky District reported that they had begun work to include Yango-Aul and Svobodny Settlement in state improvement programs. Residents of Svobodny Settlement and Yango-Aul met with Yevgeny Kruglov, head of the Leninsky District administration, and Andrei Chernichkin, a deputy of the 12th District City Duma. The agenda included improving the park area and sidewalks, said activist Nail Adelshinov.
"A park area is essential for residents, given the district's many thousands of residents. It's a place where parents with children can safely spend their leisure time, close to their homes, with playgrounds and sports fields, landscaping, lighting—everything for a comfortable stay," he explained on his VKontakte page.
"We've seen results. The project is in the development stage, and funding is available, which is very important," the activist added.
Adelshinov noted that regarding sidewalk renovations, he's referring to Novorossiyskaya Street, where the first sidewalk was laid in 1974 and hasn't been updated since. "Thanks to residents and the help of the authorities, this sidewalk has been gradually being renovated piece by piece over the past five years," he wrote.
"This year will be no exception; the work will continue," Adelshinov noted.
As of 12:00 PM Moscow time on June 8, the websites of the Astrakhan and Leninsky District administrations had no comments regarding the request from residents of Yango-Aul and Svobodny Settlement to improve the park area and sidewalks.
As a reminder, residents of the Astrakhan Region periodically complain about problems with infrastructure and landscaping. Also, having failed to get a reaction from officials, they repeatedly put infrastructure facilities in order themselves.
