Residents of Nalchik pointed out to authorities the unresolved problem with storm drains.
In Nalchik, Profsoyuznaya Street, one of the city's longest streets, regularly experiences flooding, a Nalchik resident complained on social media. Other residents, commenting on her post, noted that the storm drain problem in Nalchik has become chronic. They called on officials to address it.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot," Nalchik residents have previously repeatedly complained about storm drain problems in the city. Specifically, on April 14, 2024, after a hailstorm, some Nalchik streets were flooded. Local residents noted that this situation arose because construction workers failed to include storm drainage in their design.
On June 7, the Instagram* group chp.nalchik published a video showing a flooded Profsoyuznaya Street in Nalchik. A car is driving down the street, followed by another, filming from inside.
The video shows the water level reaching the bottom of the car. "This is Profsoyuznaya Street, the river is flowing. This happens every rainstorm. I hope someone in the city administration will have a water hammer and finally dig some kind of storm drain," the video description reads.
As of 10:00 AM Moscow time on June 8, this post on the Instagram* page chp.nalchik, which has about 508,000 followers, had garnered 649 likes and 48 comments.

"This is just the beginning. They'll build a bunch of new buildings there, and then the movies will start," quipped user mmtt0415.
