Civil Contract narrowed its lead after processing 98% of the ballots.
After 98% of the ballots in the Armenian parliamentary elections were counted, the ruling Civil Contract party received 49.82% of the vote.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," after 16.05% of the ballots were counted, the Civil Contract party received 51.16% of the vote. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Civil Contract party had won the parliamentary elections and would single-handedly form the government. He announced criminal liability for opposition leaders, rapprochement with the EU, and the development of relations with the Eurasian Economic Union.
The elections will effectively be a referendum on the future of the current government and Armenia's foreign policy, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "2026 Elections to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia".
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia published election results from 1,964 polling stations on its website, having processed 98% of the ballots.
The ruling Civil Contract party continues to lead, but its results have declined. It garnered 707,858 votes, or 49.82%. In second place is the Strong Armenia alliance, which received 23.35% (331,779 votes). The Armenia alliance is in third place with 9.94% (141,175 votes).
As a reminder, according to polls conducted before election day, the ruling Civil Contract party maintains its lead, but the overall rating of the opposition forces is higher, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Pre-election ratings of Armenian parties".
According to analysts, the parties of Samvel Karapetyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and former President Robert Kocharyan are the key competitors in the June 7 elections. Samvel Karapetyan's "Strong Armenia," along with Robert Kocharyan's "Armenia" bloc and Gagik Tsarukyan's "Prosperous Armenia" party, is one of the most pro-Russian parties in the elections. The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that the election campaign in Armenia is taking place in a tense atmosphere. The opposition previously complained that members of the "Civil Contract" party are committing widespread violations at polling stations, while the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia are demonstrating inaction. The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that a total of 18 people were detained for election violations.
