Ashkhotov's promise to solve the garbage problem has caused skepticism among Nalchik residents.

Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov promised Nalchik residents to solve the city's garbage collection problem. Residents, commenting on social media about the acting mayor's promise, called on him to back up his words with concrete results.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on June 2, Nalchik residents, commenting on social media about the appointment of Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov as acting mayor, called on him to address the garbage collection problem.

Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov has taken personal control of the garbage collection situation in Nalchik. He held a working meeting to discuss the municipal solid waste (MSW) collection and removal system. Ashkhotov instructed his subordinates to develop proposals to improve the current situation, which will then be used to approve a roadmap for improving the city's sanitary conditions, the city administration reported on its Telegram channel.

A post about Ashkhotov taking personal control of waste disposal in Nalchik was published on June 6 on the Instagram* page patriot_kbr, which has approximately 444,000 followers. As of 1:00 PM Moscow time on June 7, this post had 213 likes and 141 comments.

Some commenters called on Ashkhotov to demonstrate concrete results. "We heard you. Now show us some action," wrote user vvvvwwwwwyyyyy.

"Finally, someone took it on. I hope there will be a successful result, and soon," noted yuliannabadrakova.

Other commenters noted that Nalchik's problem isn't limited to garbage collection. "What won't he have to take under his control now," user mameluke01 quipped.

"And please take control of the roads," asked user lila35415.

"If only Nalchik Vodokanal would take control too! After all, how much longer can they torment people? When will their program actually work?" wondered user atalikovab.

"Not only is the garbage not being collected, but the streets aren't being cleaned either." "Our alley next to the city landscaping department is catastrophically drowning in garbage," noted zarina_khagundoko.

Another group of commentators noted that garbage problems exist in many settlements in the republic. "And who will take control of the rest of the republic?" quipped mama_devochki07.

"What about the rest of the republic?" wondered lena_polienko.

"It's not just Nalchik, but all of Kabardino-Balkaria that's drowning in garbage. "This has never happened in our republic before," emphasized user zzzzz_8582.

"And when will Prokhladny and Prokhladnensky districts be brought under control?" asked user lara_nails_lady.

"The city of Maysky is also drowning in garbage, what are we paying for?" wrote nina0837.

Other commentators clarified that the garbage collection problem is relevant in Chegem, Nartkala, Baksan, and Tyrnyauz.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a new regional garbage collection operator, "Ekotekhprom," has been operating in Kabardino-Balkaria since May 15. However, residents of the republic, who previously reported Regarding waste disposal problems, they noted that there has been no significant improvement in the situation since the new operator began operating.

As a reminder, in September 2025, the prosecutor's office filed a complaint against Ecologistics, the waste management operator in Kabardino-Balkaria, regarding illegal dumps in the village of Islamey. Ecologistics had previously been repeatedly criticized by residents of Kabardino-Balkaria.
