A mobilized soldier from the Volgograd region was killed in a military operation.
Sergey Kolennikov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 1,797 soldiers from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by May 31, authorities and security forces officially recognized 1,796 soldiers from the Volgograd region as killed in the special military operation in Ukraine. The Kamyshinsky District Administration reported that Miroslav Smiyan was killed in the SVO zone.
Sergey Kolennikov was killed in a military operation in Ukraine on February 2, the Kamyshinsky District Administration announced, reporting on the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the school in the village of Nizhnyaya Dobryanka, where he studied.
Kolennikov was born on December 27, 1995. After ninth grade, he entered Kamyshin Polytechnic College, where he was drafted into the army. He was mobilized to serve in the North Caucasus Military District in September 2022. He was posthumously awarded the Medal "For Courage," according to a May 30 posting on the district administration's Telegram channel. Thus, at least 1,797 soldiers from the Volgograd Region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Mounting for Southern Russia."
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "As a family of retired military personnel, I only receive 12,000 rubles a month for my two minor children," said the widow of one of the victims.
