Gas supply to five Dagestani villages has been interrupted following a landslide.

A landslide damaged a gas pipeline in the Buinaksk district, leaving residents of five villages without gas.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in late March and early April, dozens of road sections in Dagestan were closed after floods, landslides, and, in mountainous areas, avalanches and snowstorms. On May 17, Dagestanavtodor reported that heavy rainfall on the Tsurib-Archib highway in the Charodinsky District in March worsened the landslide situation, and landslide cleanup was halted due to the threat of complete collapse of the slope and the road above it.

In the Buinaksk District, a landslide near the village of Chankurbe damaged a high-pressure gas pipeline, the Dagestan Ministry of Emergency Situations reported today on its website.

"The following settlements remain without gas supply: Kadar, Karamakhi, Chankurbe, Vanashimakhi, and Chabanmakhi. Repair and restoration work is being carried out by employees of Ray-Gaz of the Buinaksk District," the publication stated.

As a reminder, floods The floods that hit the North Caucasus this spring were among the most devastating in recent years. In Dagestan, six people died as a result of the flooding, including three minors. Dagestan and Chechnya suffered the most from the natural disaster, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Spring Flooding in the North Caucasus - 2026".

The Caucasian Knot has compiled materials about flooding in the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District in the spring of 2026 on the thematic page "Flooding in the North Caucasus".
