Security forces reported the arrest of a man in Novorossiysk who had assembled an explosive device and was preparing to blow up railway tracks. According to the intelligence agency, he was acting on instructions from his Ukrainian handlers.

"An attempt to commit a terrorist act by a Russian citizen born in 1993, acting on instructions from Ukrainian intelligence services, was thwarted in Novorossiysk," the agency's website reported.

According to the intelligence agency, SBU representatives instructed the man to blow up railway tracks while a passenger train was passing. He received instructions from his handler on how to make a bomb and assembled an explosive device, which he kept at home.

The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for Krasnodar Krai has opened a criminal case against the detainee under Part 1 of Article 30, Subparagraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 205 (preparation to commit a terrorist act) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
