A Krasnodar resident was convicted of attempting to cross the front line.
A Bryansk court sentenced Krasnodar resident Kirill Denisenko to a lengthy prison term, finding him guilty of attempted illegal border crossing and treason.
The case of the Krasnodar resident was heard by the Bryansk Regional Court. According to the prosecution, Denisenko was detained in the Bryansk region while attempting to cross the border through a forest.
According to the prosecution, Denisenko traveled from Krasnodar to cross the border into Ukraine on foot "to participate in military operations against Russia as part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine."
"In court, the young man explained that he wanted to join the National Guard of Ukraine to improve his financial well-being," the joint press service of the Bryansk Region courts reported.
Denisenko's sentence was announced on May 27. A Krasnodar resident received nine years and six months in a maximum-security prison, with a year and a half of restricted freedom.
