The case of former Novocherkassk mayor Yuri Lysenko, who is accused of accepting a bribe, has been referred to court.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in May 2025, security forces detained Novocherkassk mayor Yuri Lysenko on suspicion of accepting a large bribe from a developer. A court in Rostov-on-Don ordered Lysenko's detention. On May 24, the Novocherkassk City Duma announced Lysenko's resignation.

The case of former Novocherkassk administration head Yuri Lysenko has been referred to court, Kommersant reported on May 25, citing the unified press service of the Rostov Region courts.

Lysenko is currently in pretrial detention; his detention was previously extended until June 6 inclusive.

Another defendant in the case is Lyubim Belov, an intermediary in the bribe transfer. His case has also been referred to the Novocherkassk court.

As a reminder, investigators believe that in 2024, the official received a bribe from a developer "in the form of a land plot and services for the construction of a residential building on it, totaling more than 8 million rubles." The agreement stipulated that, in exchange, the head of the administration would organize the construction of a school on the territory being developed by the entrepreneur at public expense and include the facility in the Rostov Region's comprehensive development program. Lysenko himself denies any involvement in the land deal.
