A claim for damages for the oil spill from a tanker in Novorossiysk has been filed in court.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, at the end of April, the tanker Hanuman was arrested in the port of Novorossiysk, with Rosprirodnadzor estimating the damage from the oil spill at 40 million rubles.
The Black Sea-Azov Marine Department of Rosprirodnadzor filed a claim with the Arbitration Court of Krasnodar Krai against the owner of the tanker Hanuman, "Morning South" reported on May 24.
The demand for The agency sent a voluntary compensation notice to the shipowner back in late March, but the damages were not compensated within the prescribed timeframe, after which Rosprirodnadzor was forced to take the matter to court.
The Arbitration Court had previously issued interim measures against the vessel, prohibiting it from leaving port until the situation was resolved. Rosprirodnadzor has now demanded payment of over 40 million rubles for damages to the Black Sea through the courts.

On April 24 of this year, after booms broke due to rising water levels in the Tuapse River, an oil spill occurred into the Black Sea. Kuban authorities previously attributed the leak to heavy rains, without mentioning a breach of the barriers.
