A march demanding treatment for sick children took place in Tbilisi.

A march in support of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy was held under the slogan "Give Children Medicine." Parents of children in need of treatment and activists participated.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the march of supporters of Georgia's European integration on the 542nd day of daily protests was dedicated to the country's approaching Independence Day. The protesters demanded the release of political prisoners and supported the parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, who are seeking the import of modern medications for the treatment of the disease.

"Give the children medicine"—under this slogan, a march in support of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy is taking place from the Rustaveli metro station to the government administration building.

Parents of patients and people who support the import of medications for children are participating in the march.

According to the parents, they will once again try to convey to the authorities that children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy need help and that the import of appropriate medications is vital for them, Interpressnews reports.

Ordinary citizens are also joining the parents' campaign, and students from Ilia University organized a marathon to help children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which has already raised 1,600,000 GEL. Dozens of companies, including publishing houses, universities, and clinics, have joined this marathon. The funds raised will be used to meet the daily needs of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (ventilators and the generators needed for their continuous operation, medications, adapted beds, wheelchairs, and various spinal surgeries).

According to the Publika video, a large number of people are participating in the march, holding posters and red balloons as they walk along the roadway.

Protesters on Rustaveli Avenue regularly support demands for the purchase of modern medications for children with Duchenne syndrome, whose parents have been holding a non-stop, round-the-clock protest outside the government administration building for the second month. According to the organization "Together Fighting Duchenne Dystrophy," there are approximately 100 children with this diagnosis in Georgia. Three of them have died recently, one of the most recent deaths occurred in early March, Tbilisi_life notes.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces carried out violent dispersals of the protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. Thousands of people were subjected to administrative prosecution during the protests. "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "The Main Thing About the Persecution of Protesters in Georgia".
