A mobilized soldier from Karachay-Cherkessia was killed in a military operation.
Valery Nechitailov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 196 fighters from Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially recognized as killed.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by April 11, authorities and security forces had recognized at least 195 fighters from Karachay-Cherkessia as killed in the special military operation. The last fighter killed, Ilyas Karaketov, was reported by the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District Administration.
Valery Nechitailov was killed in combat, according to the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District Administration. After high school, he studied at the branch of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Cherkessk and served in the special forces.
He was mobilized on October 24, 2022. He was awarded the Medal "For Military Valor," 1st Class, and the "For Services to the Cossacks of Russia" badge. He was killed on January 20, 2025, while serving in the line of duty and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
Thus, at least 196 soldiers from Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially recognized as killed in the North Caucasus Military District.
The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Mount for Southern Russia."
Earlier, in April, authorities in the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District reported that Alibek Shukurov had been killed in the military operation.
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "As a family of retired military personnel, I only receive 12,000 rubles a month for my two minor children," said the widow of one of the victims.
