The Court of Cassation upheld the sentence of former Deputy Head of Gelendzhik Pavel Blinov, who was sentenced to three years in a penal colony for abuse of power.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," in October 2020, police officers, together with the FSB Directorate for Krasnodar Krai, detained a former Gelendzhik administration employee in Krasnodar, suspected of embezzling more than 1.3 million rubles in revenue from paid parking in the city. On September 22, 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a wanted notice for Gelendzhik Deputy Mayor Pavel Blinov, who oversaw housing and utilities issues. In February, Blinov was sentenced to three years in a penal colony.

The Fourth Cassation Court upheld the sentence of former Gelendzhik Deputy Mayor Pavel Blinov, Utrenny Yug reported on May 23.

Earlier, the appellate court upheld the decision of the Gelendzhik City Court, which found Blinov guilty of abuse of office. The defense appealed the verdict in cassation, but the criminal panel of the Fourth Cassation Court found no grounds for overturning or mitigating the sentence, Kuban 24 reports.
