A village in the Urvan district of Kabardino-Balkaria was flooded after heavy rains.

One street in the village of Psygansu is flooded, and the water level is receding, the head of the republic reported. Social media reports indicate significant damage to villagers' property.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on May 16, after heavy rainfall, the Kheu River overflowed its banks and washed away a temporary bypass road installed during major repairs to a bridge on the highway in the village of Gerpegezh in the Cherek District. As a result, residents of hundreds of houses were left without transportation. By May 17, a temporary crossing had been established across the river. Flooding of courtyards and roads was recorded on May 23 in Aushiger, Nartan, and Ozrek.

In the village of Psygansu, continued heavy rainfall has caused flooding on Centralnaya Street. Khazrit Tlezhukov, head of the district administration, and task forces from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and the municipality are at the scene. "There are no casualties. The water level is currently receding," Kazbek Kokov, head of the republic, reported today on his Telegram channel. By 6:18:18 Moscow time, no one had commented on this message.

The video attached to the summary shows a stream of water flowing down the street, which is completely submerged.

The Telegram channel "ChP Nalchik" also reported on the situation in the village of Psygansu. "Local residents report severe flooding in the village of Psygansu. Houses are being submerged, people are losing property, and crops have been completely washed away," the statement reads.

A short video attached to the publication shows water completely covering a garden plot, with trees, a heifer, and outbuildings standing in the water.

As a reminder, the floods that occurred in the North Caucasus in late March and early April were among the most devastating in recent years. Six people, including three minors, died as a result of the flooding in Dagestan. Meanwhile, in Kabardino-Balkaria, rainfall was light.

Dagestan and Chechnya suffered the most from the disaster, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Spring flooding in the North Caucasus - 2026". The Caucasian Knot compiled materials about flooding in the North Caucasus Federal District republics in the spring of 2026 on the thematic page "Flooding in the North Caucasus".
