Two more regions have refused to send children to Tuapse.
The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Murmansk Oblast will not send children on vacation to Tuapse, although a sanatorium in the Anapa village has been chosen as a vacation destination for Murmansk residents.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the head of North Ossetia ordered that children from the republic not be sent to camps in the Tuapse Okrug and that alternative accommodations be found. Rescuers reported that the oil spill cleanup near the Tuapse Oil Refinery has been completed. Telegram users responded sarcastically to officials' reports on the cleanup of the oil spill near the refinery and promises to clean the beaches by June 1.
Oil slicks remain in the sea near Tuapse, according to a satellite image. On May 17, social media users reported a spill of oil products on a beach near the seaport, and authorities announced a competition to analyze seawater samples at 13 beaches throughout the summer. The scale of the pollution is significant, and authorities are not making enough efforts, despite planning a full resort season. On some beaches, there is no cleaning or equipment, the ecologist pointed out.
The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Department of Social Development has cancelled three government contracts for children's recreation in the Tuapse district, Verstka (recognized as a foreign agent) reported, citing the government procurement website.
Three contracts previously signed with Sevil LLC for "organizing children's recreation and health improvement" in the Tuapse district were cancelled "by mutual agreement" due to the state of emergency declared in April following a series of Ukrainian attacks on the Tuapse oil refinery and the oil spill into the Black Sea. The total value of the canceled contracts is 150 million rubles, the publication reports.
The Sevil travel company's website offers vacations at two children's camps in Tuapse: the Sozvezdie children's health camp is located in the Elektron sports camp village, and the Zolotoy Kolos children's health and wellness complex is located in Novomikhaylovskoye.
Children from the Murmansk region will not be sent to camps in the Tuapse municipal district of Krasnodar Krai, as a state of emergency is in effect there, the Arctic Ministry of Education and Science reported.
The department added that the region has begun organizing the transfer of children to camps in other districts.
"For participants in the Children of the Arctic program who are going on vacation to other districts, including Gelendzhik, there is no cause for concern. "Shifts will proceed as usual," Kommersant quoted the ministry as saying on April 29.
Instead of camps in the Tuapse District, where a state of emergency is currently in effect, a new safe site has been chosen for children: the Rodnik health resort in the Anapa village of Sukko, 51.ru reported on May 19.
A series of attacks on Tuapse's oil infrastructure has led to environmental consequences, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Fires and "oil rain": key information about the environmental disaster in Tuapse".
A regional state of emergency is in effect throughout the entire Tuapse District. You can read about emergency assessment criteria, response levels, structures, and resources for eliminating the consequences in the Caucasian Knot's document "Emergency Situation Regime (ES)".
Materials on the consequences of the fuel oil spill have been collected by the Caucasian Knot on the page "Eco-disaster in Kuban".
