Activists were allowed to attend the court hearing in Rostov-on-Don regarding the case of Kuban pensioners Nikolai Nabiev, Sergei Kuzovenko, and Marina Zakharova, who are accused of creating an illegal armed group. They reported that the pensioners appeared ill and exhausted.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," pensioners Nikolai Nabiev, Sergei Kuzovenko, and Marina Zakharova, accused of creating an illegal armed group, complained of health problems in pretrial detention. On June 6, the Uspensky District Court of Krasnodar Krai declined to issue a verdict and referred the case to the Southern District Military Court. On February 17, sympathizers managed to deliver packages to the pensioners in the pretrial detention center.

Nabiyev, Kuzovenko, and Zakharova are charged with creating an armed group and possessing weapons. According to a source, the case is fabricated and built "solely on provocations" by FSB officers, who bought alcoholic beverages and filmed the two pensioners during drinking parties over the course of a year. The pensioners have been in pretrial detention for over two years. They do not admit guilt, claiming they were trying to fight corruption in government agencies. The "Help for Political Prisoners" movement regularly sends money transfers to the accounts of Nabiyev, Kuzovenko, and Zakharova in the Federal Penitentiary Service system so that they can buy food and other necessary items while in prison.

On May 18, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don held another court hearing in the case of Kuban pensioners Nikolai Nabiyev, Sergei Kuzovenko, and Marina Zakharova, accused of creating an illegal armed group.

Information about the hearing was published on the court's website the day before, but the information about it was removed on the day of the hearing. However, sympathizers managed to read about it, and three people attended the hearing, Elena Rokhlina, founder and leader of the "Help for Political Prisoners" movement, told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her, the court heard seven witnesses and allowed observers into the courtroom. The pensioners, she said, are all in very poor condition. Nabiyev suffered a stroke while in pretrial detention, and Kuzovenko can only get around on crutches. Zakharova also has serious health problems. "All the pensioners look very exhausted, sick, worn out, and have lost a lot of weight," Rokhlina said. Another activist, Irina, confirmed Rokhlina's information and said that "all the pensioners are in poor health, which they complained about." "The pensioners themselves continue to deny their guilt. The military court has refused to be more open to the public than the courts in the Krasnodar Territory," she said.

The case of Nabiyev, Kuzovenko, and Zakharova has been heard in the military court since December 2025. The next hearing was held on May 18, a court representative confirmed to a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He declined to name the date of the next hearing and noted that both the defendants' lawyers and the defendants themselves would be notified.
