A Krasnodar resident has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term in a treason case.
The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a local resident to 14 years in prison, finding him guilty of assisting the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the court and the investigation, the defendant was an opponent of the Russian government and opposed the special military operation. In July 2023, he agreed to assist representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in activities directed against Russian security by any means available to him.
The defendant carried out the instructions of his handler, with whom he had established contact in advance, including searching for individuals willing to assist the Ukrainian side. Afterwards, he reported on the work he had done, the press service of the Krasnodar Krai courts reported today on their Telegram channel.
The court found him guilty of treason and sentenced him to 14 years in prison, a fine of 100,000 rubles, and one year of restricted freedom. He will serve his sentence in a maximum security penal colony.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Southern District Military Court sentenced Krasnodar resident Alexei Zubarev to 18 years in prison for treason and public calls for terrorism. Earlier, the Krasnodar Regional Court found a Krasnodar resident guilty of treason and sentenced her to 13 years in prison.
