A man convicted of murdering a judge in Kamyshin has appealed his sentence.

Sergey Kibalnikov, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison after being found guilty of the murder of Kamyshin City Court Federal Judge Vasily Vetlugin, has filed an appeal. His defense team filed a similar complaint.

As reported by Kavkazsky Knot, at the end of April, the Volgograd Regional Court sentenced Sergei Kibalnikov to 22 years in prison, having been found guilty of murdering Vasily Vetlugin, a federal judge in the Kamyshin City Court.

Sergey Kibalnikov, convicted of murdering Judge Vasily Vetlugin, has filed an appeal against the verdict, Vysota 102 reported on May 17.

The convicted man's appeal has been filed with the Volgograd Regional Court and has already been registered. Several days earlier, Kibalnikov's defense attorney also filed an appeal with the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction, TASS reports.

Recall that reports of the murder of a federal judge in Kamyshin, Volgograd Region, emerged on the evening of August 14. Sources connected to the security forces reported details of the crime: the judge was shot on Sovetskaya Street near the city courthouse, after which the killer stabbed him and mutilated his body. Judge Vasily Vetlugin was shot with a Saiga hunting rifle, then "his genitals were cut off and put in his mouth, and then a knife was stabbed into his eye."
