A university building in Azov was damaged after a drone attack.
Military forces shot down drones in Azov and three districts of the Rostov region. The attack damaged a building belonging to a technical university.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the night of May 16, military forces shot down drones in Taganrog, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, and two districts of the Rostov region. According to the governor, there were no injuries.
Last night, drones were destroyed in Azov and three districts of the Rostov Region: Neklinovsky, Chertkovsky, and Verkhnedonsky, reported Governor Yuri Slyusar.
"There are no casualties. In the city of Azov, as a result of a drone crash, the blast wave damaged the glass in the DSTU building," he wrote.
Azov is home to the Technological Institute, a branch of the Don State Technical University. As of 9:51 a.m. Moscow time, the DSTU website has not published any information about the attack or its aftermath.
In the Rostov Region, there is a ban on filming aerial attacks and their aftermath, air defense operations, and military units. The "Caucasian Knot" published the corresponding governor's decree.
As a reminder, on April 19, three people were injured in an airstrike in Taganrog, where the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex is located. The grounds of the aircraft factory and park were cordoned off following the airstrike. Telegram users suggested that authorities evacuate the plant outside the city limits for the safety of residents.
According to official government data, at least five people have been killed in airstrikes in Taganrog since November 2025. Reports of these incidents mentioned addresses located near the Beriev Aircraft Company.
On January 14, an air strike in Rostov-on-Don caused fires in homes and an industrial facility. One person was killed and four, including a four-year-old child, were hospitalized. That day, the military reported shooting down 25 drones in the region.
