A Moscow court sentenced former executives of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Krasnodar JSC to lengthy prison terms. Former deputy of the Kuban Legislative Assembly Alexey Rudnev was sentenced to 22 years, his deputy Alexander Savostyanov to 21 years, and the remaining defendants to terms ranging from eight to 18 years.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", in May 2023 it became known that the former general director of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Krasnodar Alexey Rudnev and his associates were accused of accepting bribes from Developers for connecting properties to gas grids. On April 7, the prosecutor's office requested that all defendants be sentenced to terms ranging from 16 to 22 years.

On May 15, the Kuzminsky District Court of Moscow sentenced former Krasnodar Krai Legislative Assembly deputy Alexei Rudnev and top managers of Kuban gas companies, Interfax reports.

Rudnev himself and his deputy for construction, Alexander Savostyanov, were sentenced to 21 and 20 years in prison, respectively, and fines of 300 million rubles each. The remaining defendants in the case were sentenced to terms ranging from eight to 18 years and fines ranging from 15 to 60 million rubles, Kommersant reports.

Rudnev's lawyer, Alexander Ilyin, stated that he considers the verdict unlawful and intends to appeal it. According to him, Rudnev's criminal prosecution is connected to a conflict with a high-ranking representative of one of the regional law enforcement agencies, who demanded that the former deputy provide gas to some gardening communities without waiting in line, but was refused.
